Samsung Omnia Taxi follows the Nokia Lumia Taxi

Nokia has been crazily promoting it's Lumia handsets in India under the Amazing Everyday banner and I'm sure none of you might have missed the news (Even my mom knows about it !). Nokia launched the Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 in India. Nokia had offered Taxi rides and much more to early adopters and now looks like Samsung is following Nokia's footsteps with the launch of it's Omnia W Smartphone in the country. Watch the Samsung Omnia Taxi after the break and Nokia Lumia Taxi in action. Samsung seems to have parked Samsung Omnia Taxis outside Nokia stores in an attempt to woo consumers. The Windows Phone battle has just begun in India ! httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evFZsuBuExs Thanks Shivansh for the tip !

Google’s Android platform and Apple’s iOS each grew more popular in the United States last month as Research In Motion’s BlackBerry devices and Microsoft’s Windows Phones again lost ground. Market research firm comScore released its market share data for the three-month period from September through November 2011, and the company found that Google’s share of the U.S. smartphone market grew to 46.9%, up 3.1 points from 43.8% in the prior three-month period. Apple’s iOS platform gained just over a point over the same period to reach 28.7% and BlackBerry shed more than 3 points to sink to a 16.6% share. Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform shed half a point to drop to 5.2% in the three-month period ended November 2011. Samsung

Apple iPad 3 Retina Display Leaked

The display panel that you see in the picture above might be the much rumored retina display for the Apple iPad 3. There seems to be a change in the cable ribbon arrangement to support higher powered displays. The picture below shows the comparison between the iPad 2 and supposed iPad 3 displays with the iPad 2 display being on the top. The iPad 2 screen had two wide brown ribbon cables while the retina screen seems to have 3 brown ribbon cables for data. This would help to power the new display which supports a resolution on 2048x1536 pixels which means its four times the resolution of the previous generation iPads. source | via

Army of MetroPCS phones heading to Amazon's virtual shelves

MetroPCS purports to bring the wireless to all, but it hasn't had the right showcase to fulfill that promise... until now. The carrier announced today that its arsenal of handsets is on the way to one of the biggest online retailers in the world. A quick perusal of the PR below reveals no handset exclusions, so it's safe to say that Amazon will offer every handset from the mobile provider's armory. We know that cash Santa stuffed in your stocking's burning a hole in your pocket, and right now seems like a good time to head on over to Bezos' favorite site to get your hands on one of those LTE devices we've introduced you to.

Spire installer brings Siri to any jailbroken iOS 5 device, legally -- proxy still required

A few months of work by iOS hackers Grant Paul (aka chpwn), Steven Troughton-Smith and Ryan Petrich has culminated in the release of Spire, a new installer that will easily set up Siri on your jailbroken iOS 5 device. While Apple has kept its little helper exclusively constrained to the iPhone 4S, it now runs on iPads, iPhone 4, iPod touches and the iPhone 3GS, and while that's been done before they claim the other new trick is that it's legal, avoiding the copyright infringement inherent in previous hacks. When installed it will initiate a 100MB download of Siri directly from Apple so watch your bandwidth limits, and also be prepared to set up your own proxy server with donated info from an iPhone 4S to hold the line between Apple's backend and yourself. It's available on Cydia now so if you've been waiting for a way to get this feature for yourself it's not far away, however Troughton-Smith tells 9to5 Mac that the next major step may not come until the iPhone 4S is jailbroken and they can avoid the proxy server issues altogether.
